In "A Short History of the Gaze," as players traverse scenarios ranging from the unsettling male gaze in an elevator to the overwhelming presense of the incarceral and capitalist gazes, they are led into a profound meditation on societal structures and the power dynamics at play. The game's portrayal serves as a stark mirror to our existing realities, challenging us to introspect and question the world around us.

When one contemplates Paolo's diverse gazes within the VR medium and contrasts them with the dual nature of experiences as elucidated in the podcast, an intricate web of connections emerges. The transient and often jarring nature of the gazes in the game could be likened to the "erlebnis," the raw, immediate experiences that shake us in the moment. On the other hand, the collective weight of these gazes, their potential implications, and the overarching societal commentary they present can be related to "erfahrung," experiences that linger, forcing introspection and potentially contributing to a deeper, more nuanced understanding of our surroundings.

Furthermore, Paolo's portrayal of VR as a still-evolving gaze is especially salient. Today, VR might appear as a relatively benign force, especially when measured against more historically entrenched and societally impactful gazes. However, as the podcast emphasizes, experiences in VR—whether fleeting or prolonged—have the potential to mold our perceptions, beliefs, and ultimately, our realities.
